OSKALOOSA — Nick Richardson-Jackson (Jr., Germantown, Md.) ran a blazing time last Saturday en route to both breaking a school record and being named Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week Monday.
Richardson-Jackson claimed his first career laurel by breaking a 36-year-old record at the Statesmen Relays.
The junior led the preliminary round of the 100-meter dash with a school-record time of 10.41 seconds, snapping the previous time of 10.57 seconds set by Derek Newton in 1985.
Richardson-Jackson currently leads the Heart in the 100 and is fourth in the NAIA with his ‘A’ standard time. He is also 14th in the Heart in the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.28 seconds.
The award is the program’s fourth of the season.
