It was another solid week of baseball for the Oskaloosa Indians as they finished 4-2 on the week. Wyatt Krier was a big part of that as the leadoff hitter proved to be a very tough out while showing well in a couple of relief appearances on the mound.
Krier was near-impossible out at the plate last week, going 10-for-16 to sport a .625 batting average with two RBIs. To add to that, he also showed a keen eye, drawing seven walks to bring his on-base percentage for the week to a staggering .731, meaning he reached base safely in three of his four plate appearances on average. And when he did get on base he wasn’t afraid to run, racking up six stolen bases.
Krier also made three appearances on the rubber for the Indians, pitching a total of four innings giving up one run on four hits with three walks and seven strikeouts.
On the year, Krier leads the team with a .462 batting average, 12 hits, 11 walks and eight stolen bases to go along with two RBIs. As a pitcher, he is 1-1 with a 0.84 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 8 1/3 innings.
Krier and Oskaloosa (7-3, 6-3 LHC) host Indianola (5-5, 5-4 LHC) on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
