It was a big week for the Oskaloosa girls tennis team as the Indians went a perfect 3-0 in duels and battled a tough field at the Pella Invitational to take second place. Lucy Roach was a big part of all of those results as she enjoyed a good week of tennis.
Roach started the week against Chariton where she rolled to a 10-0 win in singles play before teaming up with MaKenna Schaffner with her usual partner, Presley Blommers nursing an injury. The two would pick up a 10-5 win to complete the sweep of the duel.
Roach then battled Newton in a good duel. She won her singles match 6-0, 6-2 before getting back to doubles with Blommers as the two won their match 6-1, 6-2.
Osky wrapped up duel play at North Polk as Roach once again rolled in singles play with a 10-1 win before following up with a 10-5 victory in doubles play.
The duo then played in the Pella Invite, going 3-1 on day to take third place with their lone loss, which was their first loss as a doubles team this season, was to the eventual champs from second-ranked Columbus.
On the week, Roach would finish 6-1 in her matches while outscoring her opponents 92-37 in the process.
Roach and Oskaloosa (5-2) go to No. 8 (1A) Pella Christian (5-1) on Monday at 4:15 p.m.
