OSKALOOSA — Another warmish night of baseball was in store on Wednesday with a pair of Little Hawkeye Conference foes clashing. Indianola struck early and often on their way to a 12-1 win over Oskaloosa in five innings.

Indianola got things going in the first with back-to-back errors from the Oskaloosa defense keeping the inning alive.

The visiting team would make them pay with a RBI groundout and RBI single before a two-run blast to center field by Noah Johnston would increase the Indianola lead to 4-0 after one.

Two Indianola singles would start the third inning followed up by RBI doubles by Johnston and Carter Erickson to increase the lead to 7-0.

Oskaloosa would come back with some offense in the bottom of the inning with Alex Christ getting on with a leadoff walk. Back to back singles from Colin Snitker and Landon Briggs would load the bases with one out for Aiden North.

North would send one out to center field for a RBI sac fly to get Osky on the board but a groundout would strand the other two on base and halt any potential rally. Oskaloosa would end up stranding six on base in the five innings.

The Indianola offense continued to put pressure on the Oskaloosa defense as they added two runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth to finish off the run-rule victory.

Oskaloosa had three pitchers throw 1 2/3 innings. Jarrett Czerwinski took the loss after starting and giving up four unearned runs on three hits with on walk and one strikeout. Logan Hoskinson followed in relief with three runs allowed on four hits with two strikeouts while Aiden Hildenbrand finished the game allowing five runs, three earned, on seven hits with one walk and one punch out.

Osky had five hits on the night with Snitker finishing 2-for-3 while North drove in the lone run.

Oskaloosa (2-9, 1-5 LHC) hits the road to face Pella Christian (2-10, 1-5 LHC) for a doubleheader on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
