CHARITON – It was a full day of volleyball as North Mahaska faced some higher-class competition at the Chariton Invitational. They opened the day with Class 1A Wayne winning 21-12 and 21-19. In their next two matches they faced a pair of 3A teams. Albia won 21-12, 21-17 and Davis County topped the Warhawks 21-15, 21-6.
North Mahaska topped Class 2A foe Truro I-35 25-14, 28-26 then defeated Class 1A East Union, 25-19, 25-20.
Stats were available for only three matches at press time. Carlie Scholtus led the offense with six kills and two service aces with eight digs. Zoe Deucore and Morgan Hudson led the defense with 26 and 17 digs respectively. Jalayna Shipley had nine digs.
Others contributing throughout the day were, Kaitlyn Van Donselaar with two aces, Lexi Van Utrecht had five kills and a block, and Regan Grewe recorded four kills and two blocks.
North Mahaska, 7-7, faces Lynnville-Sully Sept. 13 then hosts the North Mahaska Invitational Saturday.
