OSKALOOSA The Statesmen women’s basketball team continues to be a player on the national scene as the NAIA released its third Division I top-25 poll Wednesday.
WPU (11-4, 7-3 Heart) dropped one rung from the last rating to #27 with 31 points. William Penn is one of six Heart of America Athletic Conference programs in the ranking. Central Methodist tops the group at #8, while Grand View (#19) and Clarke (#21) are also in the top 25. Benedictine (#26) and MidAmerica Nazarene (#28) finish off a sandwich of Heart squads that guide the receiving votes section.
Undefeated programs The Master’s (Calif.), with 216 points and five first-place votes, and Oklahoma City, with 215 points and four first-place votes, lead the national poll. Former #1 Campbellsville (Ky.) is third, while Westmont (Calif.) and Vanguard (Calif.) round out the top five.
William Penn travels to Fayette, Mo. Wednesday to meet Central Methodist at 5:30 p.m.
