OSKALOOSA—Another local high school athlete has signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at the collegiate level.

Oskaloosa senior Nikki Parlet made it official in a signing ceremony at the Oskaloosa High School Activities Office on November 22, committing to William Penn University to bowl.

Nikki’s mother, Leeann Parlet, says Nikki has been bowling ever since she was eight years old. She has bowled on the high school varsity bowling team since 2017, and she was 1st Team All-Conference in 2018 and 2019.

In 2019 she was a Grand Prix Tournament Division B winner and qualified for the State Grand Prix and Bowling for Gold, where she finished fourth overall and as the first female, as the top three finishers were boys.

She was also the State Finalist at the 2019 Iowa Games of Bowling.

Parlet’s academic awards include an Academic Letter, National Honor Society and Honor Roll. She has earned the Iowa Bowling Proprietors Association Scholarship Award each of the years from 2017 through 2019.

While attending WPU, Parlet plans to major in Health & Life Sciences with the goal of earning a DPT Physical Therapy. Parlet said she is looking forward to the new challenges of competing at the next level.

“We congratulate and welcome Nikki Parlet to the Statesmen family,” said WPU bowling coach Brandon Brooks.
