BELLE PLAINE – Six individuals claimed placing for the North Mahaska boys track team to help them to a fifth place finish. Grundy Center dominated tallying 191 points. Alburnett ran second with 81 points and North Mahaska scored 62.
Dylan Klinker, Matthew Goemaat, Lane Harmon and Grant Smith had the best individual finishes taking seconds in the 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters and long jump. Klinker covered the 200 in 24.01 seconds with teammate Sean Knockel scoring a fourth place in 24.45.
Goemaat was second in the 400 in 56.66 and Harmon ran second in the 800 with a time of 2:20.47. Smith took second in the high jump with a leap of 20-feet 1.5 inches.
Harmon finished fifth in the 3,200 in 11:25.97 and Goemaat was fifth in the 400 hurdles with a run of 1:05.83.
North Mahaska garnered 22 points in the relays including a first place in the 800-meter relay. The team of Klinker, Smith, Andy Knockel and Ty Kelderman covered the course in 1:38.0. The 1,600 meter team of Harmon, Smith, Nate Sampson and Sean Knockel was fourth in 3:53.09. Klinker, Smith, Matthew Goemaat and Sean Knockel was fourth in the sprint medley with a time of 1:421.36.
The distance medley team of Klinker, Chase Grandia, Harmon and Anthony Goemaat ran fifth in the distance medley in 4:07.44. The 400 meter weight person relay team of Gage Vander Voort, Trace Goemaat, Jacob Clark and Kelderman finished third in 56.65.
The boys will be in action Thursday at the North Mahaska Invitational.
