NEWTON — Oskaloosa held a 2-0 lead for the first three innings against Newton Friday night.

Then the Indians erupted for 12 additional runs in the final four innings to blank the Cardinals 14-0.

Oskaloosa took advantage of nine walks from a pair of Newton pitchers in the win.

Noah Van Veldhuizen singled, doubled and drove in five runs to lead the 5-3 Indians. Nik Dykstra contributed a pair of singles and scored two runs while Tyler Miller had two singles, three RBI and two runs scored. Cole Kraber singled and scored two runs while Colton Butler also singled and scored a run. Charlie North had the other Oskaloosa hit and knocked in a pair of runs. Wyatt Krier didn't get a hit, but he did drive in two runs and scored twice. Will Schultz scored a run as did Kale Bollinger and Jarrett Czerwinski while Wes Wilcox scored twice.

Butler picked up the win as he went five innings, allowed five hits and struck out thee. Krier and Miller both pitched an inning as Miller recorded two strikeout and walked one. Neither reliever gave up a hit.
