FAIRFIELD — The Oskaloosa defense set the tone as the Indians took on Fairfield Friday night.
Reed Brown intercepted a Carter Ferrel pass and returned it for a touchdown to help the Indians down the Trojans 44-20 on Pearl Smith Field at Trojan Stadium.
Brown, who had a pair of interceptions, returned his first interception 38 yards on the game's first possession as Oskaloosa never gave up the lead.
Aaron Blom, making his season debut, had field goals of 34, 37 and 46 yards while Tyler Miller tallied four touchdowns.
Miller rushed 22 times for 144 yards and one of his touchdowns came on a 57-yard punt return in the third quarter.
The Oskaloosa defense held the Trojans to 86 yards rushing and 255 yards in total offense.
The Indians, on the other hand, ran for 175 yards and had 296 yards in offense.
Will Schultz threw for 121 yards on 15 of 24 passing.
Blom had four receptions for 55 yards while Miller also grabbed four passes for 13 yards. Cody Gunn and Kenny Settimi recorded nine tackles apiece for Oskaloosa as Mason Ford recovered a fumble.
The 2-1 Indians return home this coming week with a game against Norwalk.
