PELLA — Tyler Miller had two doubles among his six hits as Oskaloosa swept Pella in a Little Hawkeye Conference doubleheader Monday night.
Miller collected four hits, including a double, in the Indians' 12-1 pounding of the Little Dutch in the opener which lasted five innings. He then added another double and a single in the 8-2 win to complete the sweep.
The Indians jumped all over the Little Dutch scored four runs in the first inning, three more in the second and four additional runs in the third to blow the game open.
Miller also drove in a run in the first game and stole three bases while Noah Van Veldhuizen had a single, double, one run scored and three RBI. Cole Kraber also had a pair of singles and knocked in two runs while Wyatt Krier singled and scored three runs. Rian Yates had a single, two runs scored and one RBI while Colton Butler singled and drove in a pair of runs. Colin Snitker scored twice.
Butler pitched the first three innings to earn the win. He gave up just one hit and struck out four. Jarrett Czerwinski went the last two innings, surrendering one hit and fanning two.
Oskaloosa got off to another quick start in the nightcap, scoring three runs in the first and adding four more in the second.
Miller scored a run and drove in another as Butler had two singles, scored twice and drove in three others. Krier had a single and scored two runs while Yates had a triple, scored a run and added one RBI. Van Veldhuizen singled and had one RBI while Will Schultz had a single and scored a run. Nik Dykstra scored a run as well.
Yates went three innings, gave up two hits, walked one and struck out three. Krier collected the win as he pitched four innings, allowing six hits, two runs, walking one and striking out three.
Oskaloosa hosted Fairfield Tuesday night and Centerville on Wednesday then closes the regular season with a resumption of last week's suspended game with Pella Christian at 10 a.m. with the second game to follow.
