Alexis Guimaraes finished third at 167.

OSKALOOSA — Alexis Guimaraes (Grad., San Ramon, Calif., Sports Management) fought a difficult course in even more difficult conditions en route to a solid finish as she was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week Monday.

Guimaraes earned her first weekly laurel of the season (third of her career) as she guided William Penn to a second-place finish at the TPC Deere Run Invitational last Monday and Tuesday.

With winds gusting on a course that is on the PGA Tour schedule, the graduate student posted a first-round score of 83 and then notched an 84 for the second day. Her final mark of 167 placed her third among 73 players. It’s her third-straight top-five finish this year.

For the season, Guimaraes owns an 80.6 stroke average in nine rounds of play. She has two rounds in the 70s with a low score of 75.

The award is the first for WPU this year.
