My son, Tyler, and I left this morning at 8:15 a.m. from Harvest Point and arrived at 2:30 p.m. We made a quick trip to the course before returning back to the hotel so I could attend the PGA Champions dinner.
Y.E. Yang is defending champion and so he and his wife were the hosts. His English is still very limited so he uses an interpreter. Many champions were in attendance including Tiger (Woods) and Phil (Mickelson).
At my table was John Daly and Doug Ford. Daly was very pleasant and we all had very nice conversation. Daly was wearing his signature wild clothing consisting of a red/white sport coat and matching tennis shoes. Odd choice of clothing for such a formal night but that’s Daly.
The cuisine tonight was all Korean and I ate most of it including Japchae, Modeumjeon, Bulgogi with Vegetable Ssam and for dessert, Soosam Daechoo Danja.
South Korea thought so much of this evening they sent over four chefs to prepare the food. Very good publicity for Asia golf.
Y.E. invited Vijay (Singh) and Tiger to say a few words tonight and both were funny and very gracious.
I will send another report later this week. I will be announcing players into the No. 9 on Saturday and off No. 1 tee on Sunday.
