Lucy Roach

Oskaloosa's Lucy Roach won a pair of matches for the Indians on Tuesday.

OSKALOOSA — Oskaloosa grabbed their second win in as many days as they were able to pick up a hard-fought win over Newton on Tuesday, 7-4.

The night doubled as senior night for the Indians as they were playing in their final home dual of the season.

Oskaloosa’s top two singles would fall but the rest of the lineup was able to pull through.

MaKenna Schaffner (6-4, 6-2), Amanda Fay (6-3, 7-5), Lucy Roach (6-0, 6-2) and Presley Blommers (7-5, 6-3) would all snatch victories to give Osky a 4-2 advantage heading into doubles play.

The Indians once again tried to shake up some of the pairings and got pretty good results.

Oskaloosa would fall in a couple of grinders in their No. 4 and No. 5 doubles. Autumn DeRonde and Samara Shilling lost a thrilling match 7-6 (7-3), 6-7 (6-8), 1-0 (10-8) while Linette Ramirez and Kaylee Johnson fell 7-5, 7-6 (8-6).

But Oskaloosa would clinch the dual victory with wins in each of their top three doubles teams.

Aubree Blanco and Schaffner won 6-1, 6-4, Jillian Jennings and Fay won 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) and the still undefeated duo of Roach and Blommers won 6-1, 6-2.

Oskaloosa (4-2) will prepare for the Pella Invitational on Saturday at 9 a.m.
