Pella volleyball

Pella head coach Mallory Peterson (center) talks to her team in the huddle.

Who: Pella (22-11) vs Grinnell (3-21)

What: Class 4A - Region 3 - Quarterfinal

Where: Pella

When: Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.

Matchup history

Talk about some good history for Pella. The Lady Dutch are 22-1 against Grinnell since 2007 with the Tigers’ last win coming in 2012. In fact, Pella hasn’t even surrendered a set since that match, winning 33 straight sets. Pella defeated Grinnell 3-0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-20) earlier this month.

One key player for Pella

It should be another big match for Bailey Van Voorst, the junior hitter had a team-high 14 kills and 13 blocks in the first meeting. Expect more of the same against a struggling Grinnell team.

Keys for Pella

Limit self-inflicted mistakes and take care of business. Grinnell played Pella tough earlier this season despite the sweep. The Lady Dutch still have to show up but they are in great form coming off of last week’s conference tournament title. They have won nine of their last 10 matches. Look for them to grab another one on Tuesday and advance to the semifinals.
