Matchup history

These two have met once in the QuikStats era and it was a dandy at the state tournament in 2007 with Dike-New Hartford edging Pella Christian 3-2.

One key player for Pella Christian

Avey Amelse will have her hands full against a very young, but talented DNH squad. For the Eagles to pull off the upset, they will need Amelse to be elite in all phases of the game. She has shown she can do that she leads the team in kills (285) and aces (56) and is second in digs (167). Amelse will need be sharp offensively, be aggressive but smart with her serves and help out defensively.

Keys for Pella Christian

Passing will be key for PC. They’ve gotten into trouble at times with inconsistent passing. They can’t afford to give DNH free balls or free points on errors. The Eagles, from the back line to setters Amelse, Sarah Gritters and Kyah Chamberlin will need to be good. The Wolverines only have one senior on their team. If Pella Christian can be within striking distance late in sets and put pressure on DNH to execute, they might be able to come up with the big plays in the big moments like they did against Pleasantville. Winner advances to the regional final on Wednesday at Cedar Falls against the winner of Aplington-Parkersburg and Lake Mills.
