DES MOINES — Cold and windy conditions may have inflated some early season scoring but the Pella and Pella Christian boys golf teams took to the course for the first time this season at the Saydel Invite at Woodland Hills Golf Course on Friday.
Gilbert would take home the team title by 35 strokes with a score of 324 while Pella would take fifth (374) and Pella Christian took eighth (414).
Pella’s Will Simpson jump started his season with a low score of 81, good enough for runner-up honors behind Brock Snyder’s 78 for Gilbert.
Following in behind Simpson was Ayden Gordon with an 89, Thomas Tangen with a 96 and AJ Hoekstra with a 107.
The Eagles had six boys at the meet. Junior Kyle Gao carded a 94 to lead PC while freshman Isaiah Breems also stayed under 100 with a 96.
