PELLA —The size and depth of the Pella Christian boys was on full display on Monday night in a 74-34 non-conference win over Knoxville.
The Eagles were able to get quality looks inside all night as they wasted little time jumping out in front 19-7 after the first quarter.
The lead continued to grow as the PC defense made it tough for Knoxville to get into their uptempo offense by getting steals and run outs. Kaiden Smith had a nice up and under reverse layup at the buzzer but Knoxville would find themselves behind 40-14 at the break.
Pella Christian was able to work in their bench with the running clock in the second half as 12 different Eagles would score on the night on their way to the 40-point win.
PC shot 60% from the floor on the night despite going just 3-of-13 from three. Niko Schirz would lead the Eagles with 12 points and six rebounds while Aiden Stoltz made all three of his and PC’s threes. Eric Mulder would go a perfect 5-of-5 from the field with 10 points, four rebounds, four assists, two steals and three blocks.
Knoxville freshman Gabe Clark would find his shot in the fourth quarter with 12 of his team-high 15 points coming in the final eight minutes.
Pella Christian (8-2, 3-2 LHC) plays again at home against Oskaloosa (2-7, 0-5 LHC) on Tuesday at 7:45 p.m. while Knoxville (2-7, 2-4 SCC) will host Clarke (6-3, 4-2 SCC) on Friday at 8 p.m.
