Pella Christian's Eric Mulder (second from left) signs his letter of intent

PELLA — Pella Christian’s Eric Mulder recently signed his letter of intent to continue his academic and basketball career at Division I Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Mulder is coming off a a big junior year in which he helped guide the Eagles to the district finals. The 6-foot-8 forward led the team with 14.2 points per game on 61.8% shooting from the field and 33.3% from three to go with 9.5 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.6 blocks per game.

Mulder will head to IPFW and play for head coach Jon Coffman, who enters his eighth season leading the Mastodons. IPFW is 119-102 in those eight-plus years and are looking to improve off an 8-15 record last season.

Coffman loves Mulder’s multi-sport versatility and thinks he made a big jump this summer and will continue to improve in the coming years.

"How many 6-8 forwards return punts and kickoffs in high school football?" Coffman said in a press release. "Eric is a talented, versatile, mobile, athletic, skilled, forward/center who played his first AAU season this past summer. He developed so much from the beginning of the July recruiting period through the end of July. I can't wait to see how much he develops between now and reporting to campus next fall!"
