Wes Wilcox pitching in the first inning at Monday nights game against PC

OSKALOOSA - The Indians pulled off a tough victory against conference opponent Pella Christian as they held them off late by getting through some treacherous territory late in the game. Wes Wilcox would get the win as the Indians would pick up the 6-4 victory Monday night.

Oskaloosa would come out strong in the bottom of the first inning as they would get runners on second and third base before Landon Briggs would double on a shot to right field scoring Kamden Criss and Colin Snitker. The Indians would not stop there as Alex Christ would single to center field to add to the run total making it 3-0. Trey Miller would score off an error by the center fielder on a fly out. Osky would take the lead of 4-0 at the end of the first inning.

Pella Christian would gain a run back in the top of the second inning as Elliot Menninga would single to center and later steal second base. Ty Vander Molen would single to left field and score Menninga from second base. Vander Molen would be thrown out as he tried to extend the single going to second base. The game would now be 4-1 at the end of the second inning.

We will jump to the bottom of the fourth inning as Oskaloosa would extend the lead on a sacrifice fly out to center field by Snitker as he would score Tucker Dejong. This extended the lead to 5-1.

In the top of the fifth inning is where the game got real interesting as Pella Christian would load the bases up with two outs. Bennett Spronk would come up to bat with the bases loaded. Spronk would crush a ball to the left center gap unloading the bases and scoring three runs on the two-out double. He would bring energy back into a game that looked like the Indians were in control of for the most part. His double would make the game a one-run game heading into the bottom of the fifth inning, 5-4.

Oskaloosa would answer right back in as Marcus Fresquez would single on a line drive up the middle scoring Miller. This made the game 6-4, giving the Indians a little breathing room. Oskaloosa would load up the bases this inning without any outs and leave all the runners stranded as Pella Christian pitchers would shut down the rest of the batters, getting out of a jam that saved their hope in the game.

The Eagles would be shut down for the last two innings as relief pitchers Jarret Czerwinski and Aiden Hildenbrand would get the saves.

Wes Wilcox pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on five hits.

Micah DeHaan got the start for the Eagles and he pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing six runs on eight hits while striking out six. Trevor Veenstra would come in for relief and pitch the last 1 2/3 innings.
