School: Pella Christian
Pella Christian lost a hard-fought five set thriller to Norwalk last week 3-2 (25-19, 23-25, 25-21, 22-25, 15-9). Avey Amelse’s play with and without the ball was a major reason it went to five sets.
Amelse was blasting kills not only from the left side of the court but also from the back row on her way to a 23-kill night with a 22.2% kill efficiency.
She was a vocal leader and was also hungry for the ball not only offensively, but defensively as she was second on the team with 10 digs while also chipping in one ace while serving 17-of-18.
On the season, Amelse is now tied for the team lead with 48 kills and a 10.2% kill efficiency. She also ranks second in digs (35) and third in aces with nine and an 88.7% serve efficiency.
Amelse and Pella Christian (3-4) are back at on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. at Indianola (3-4).
