OSKALOOSA — The bowling season is officially underway for Oskaloosa as they picked up a pair of wins over Pella Christian on Friday afternoon.
On the boy’s side, Oskaloosa would take it 2,478-1,973.
Oskaloosa’s Jarrett Czerwinski would bowl the high game (234) and overall high series (418) for the meet. Andrew Quang, in his first year of bowling and first meet, would score with a 359 series with a high game of 200. He has improved tremendously since the first day of practice. Jake Gatton also had a solid meet, adding a high game of 222.
For Pella Christian, they were led by Austin Moorman, who owned the high series (276) and high game (159) for the Eagles.
The Oskaloosa girls picked up a 1,933-1,592 over Pella Christian.
Rylee Witt had the overal high series (314) and high game (157 twice) in the girls meet. Freshman Kaylee Haugen bowled well in her first meet with the second high series (279) and second high game (145). Autumn DeRonde had the third high game at 143.
Pella Christan had a couple of impressive showings from youngsters. Freshman Gabriella VanDer Hart had the high series (264) and high game (164) while sophomore Alexa Klaasen was not far behind her with a series of 263 and high game of 146.
“I am very happy to get the wins, however we still have a lot of practicing to do yet,” Oskaloosa head coach Tony Witt said. “The kids missed a lot of easy spares today. We get that aspect of the game taken care of better and we will be able to contend for the conference title at the end of the year.”
Oskaloosa travels to Ottumwa on Tuesday at 2 p.m. while Pella Christian goes to Des Moines to take on Norwalk.
