WINTERSET — A tough opening round draw saw Pella travel to Winterset in what was one of just two Class 3A quarterfinals between winning teams. The Lady Dutch fell behind early and were unable to erase the deficit as they fell to Winterset 50-34 last week.
Winterset jumped out to a quick start on both ends of the floor and found themselves ahead 19-6 after one quarter of play.
The Huskies would then grow that lead to 33-13 at halftime.
The second half played fairly even but the deficit was too much to overcome as Pella’s season came to a close.
The Lady Dutch were held to 35.5% shooting from the floor and 1-of-12 from three with 20 turnovers against Winterset’s nine.
The Huskies were led by Bridget Stover’s 16 points while Jena Young added 13 points, six assists and six steals.
Anna Vander Waal led the Lady Dutch with nine points and three rebounds. Faith Diers had seven points while Jasmine Namminga chipped in six points and five rebounds off the bench.
Pella finishes the year with an 11-11 record and bid farewell to seniors Faith Diers, Madison Naig and Annika Peterson.
