PELLA — Athletics director Eric Van Kley announced that Casey Klunder resigned as head baseball coach at Central College after two seasons to pursue another opportunity.
Klunder, who previously had a successful 16-year run as coach at Waverly-Shell Rock High School, posted a 31-47 record in two years with the Dutch, including a 15-24 mark this year.
“We thank Coach Klunder for all he has put into Central baseball during the past two seasons and wish him and his family well,” Van Kley. “Moving forward, we are more committed than ever to building a championship baseball program at Central and more committed than ever to our student-athletes. Supporting them in their development in the classroom, on the field and in their daily lives is our highest priority. Our search is underway to identify a new head coach who is equally committed to their success, to Central College and to developing a championship program.
“We expect to move quickly in finding the best person to fill that role.”
