The Pella defensive line lines up against Knoxville.

Who: Pella (2-2, 2-0) vs Carlisle (2-2, 1-1)

Where: Pella

When: Friday, Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m.

Matchup history

Since 2007, Pella holds the series advantage 10-3. Carlisle snapped Pella’s eight-game winning streak in the series in last year’s 42-36 victory.

One key player for Pella

Levi Roose has had himself a nice senior campaign thus far on the Pella defensive line. He is currently second on the team with 17.5 tackles to go along with four tackles for loss and one sack. Carlisle has the second-best offense in the district at 36.8 points per game. A lot of that has to do with their running game, which averages nine yards per carry. The Wildcats have scored 17 touchdowns on the ground against just two in the air. Roose will have to clog up the running game and make Carlisle throw the ball.

Keys for Pella

Pella could be loading up the box in this game to try to slow the Carlisle running game. Do that, and make them beat you with the pass where they’ve completed less than 50% of their passes and have thrown four interceptions against two touchdowns. The Dutch offense should feel good about this game as Carlisle gives up an average of 28.8 points per game. Pella has won the last two games by having a dominant first half, look for them to come out hot out of the gates to try to do the same again this week.
