Matchup history

The Dutch lead the series 3-1 since 2016 with the Bluejays claiming the most recent meeting 28-17 last year in a competitive game.

One key player for Pella

All eyes will be on the running backs in this game with Pella’s Kenson Fuller and Bondurant-Farrar’s Titus Cram. Cram already has a handful of DI offers from Power Five schools as a junior while Fuller has been a great spark for the Dutch offense with 417 rushing yards on 41 carries (10.2 yards per carry) and four touchdowns. Fuller is coming off a big game against a good Indianola squad where he was able to break off for big runs. Pella will need another big game from Fuller, who also had an 86-yard kickoff return for touchdown in last year’s matchup, to try to pull off the upset.

Keys for Pella

Slow down Cram. The talented junior running back did most of the damage in last year’s game where he ran for 152 yards on 25 carries with four touchdowns. Despite being the focal point on team’s game plans, Cram has still amassed 77 carries for 552 yards and six rushing touchdowns while catching another six passes for 102 yards and one receiving touchdown through three games. He is a handful for opposing defenses and will be a test to slow down for the Dutch. It isn’t all Cram in the running game though, B-F is also dangerous through the air with QB Colby Collison passing for 598 yards and six touchdowns against one pick so far this season. The Bluejays have also been tough defensively, allowing just 9.3 points per game with eight forced turnovers. The Pella offense will hope to get the running game going with the passing game still trying to find its footing. The hogs up front will try to open up some holes for Fuller to get through as controlling time of possession could also be important. The Dutch are facing their forth straight ranked opponent to start the season as they will try to grab a big upset win before starting district play next week.
