One key player for Pella Christian
When they needed him most, Eric Mulder came up with several big plays last week against Panorama. The 6-foot-7 junior wide receiver and safety had a monster night with three catches for 30 yards and three touchdowns while racking up seven tackles and one fumble recovery. PC is going to need more big plays like that on both sides of the ball to pull off the upset against a talented, balanced squad like Van Meter.
Keys for Pella Christian
Can the Eagles score against the Van Meter defense? The Bulldogs boast the top defense in 1A, giving up an average of just 6.3 points per game while sporting four shutouts this season. Van Meter hasn’t given up more than 18 points in a game and have scored at least 30 points in every game. PC will likely need to keep this a low-scoring game to have a chance. The Eagle offense has looked good in recent weeks with Isaac Kacmarynski making a nice throws and the running game finding success with Cody Boender. The weather should be much friendly to the passing game this week than it was last week. PC is 2-2 on the road this season, this would certainly be their biggest road win if they can pull off the upset and advance to the state quarterfinals.
