One key player for Pella Christian
Pella Christian linebacker Josiah Diehl will have a tough assignment against one of the top running teams in the class averaging 333.3 yards per game on the ground. Sigourney-Keota run a single-wing offense that puts pressure on the linebacker to identify the ball carrier and fill gaps. Diehl leads PC with 22.5 tackles this season and he will need to have a big game in the middle of that Eagle defense to limit the Cobra offense.
Keys for Pella Christian
This is being touted as one of the top games in the state this week. A pair of talented undefeated squads clash in district play at Pella Christian. The Eagles should be fresh after coming off of a rare bye week after Van Buren had to forfeit due to COVID concerns. Both teams have a good knack for creating turnovers as PC has forced 10 in three games and the Cobras have forced eight in four games. Both teams taking care of the ball will obviously be important but so will time of possession. Sigourney-Keota has an offense that can melt the clock and tire out a defense over the course of a game. Cade Molyneux leads the Cobra rushing attack with 833 rushing yards on 104 carries with 10 touchdowns. The Pella Christian defense will be tested while the PC offense will try to stay hot with quarterback Isaac Kacmarynski, his three go-to targets and Benny Schirz in the rushing game. This a chance for a signature win for both teams and a chance to get into the driver’s seat of the district title race.
