One key player for Pella Christian
Sophomore quarterback Isaac Kacmarynski and the Pella Christian offense was able to navigate an I-35 defense that hadn’t given up a point until they played the Eagles. Kacmarynski will face a similarly tough defense this week against Mount Ayr. The Raiders have only given up an average of 10.3 points per game and haven’t given up more than 13 points. The experience the offense gained last week should help but they may face another challenge when trying to punch the ball into the end zone.
Keys for Pella Christian
The Eagle offense faces another tough defense again this week. Not only are they tough to score against, they get to the quarterback. They have 11 sacks so far this season with nine different players recording a sack. The Eagles’ offensive line will need to sharp and will need to pick up blitzes to keep the pocket clean for Kacmarynski. If they can’t do that, look for the PC coaches to get Kacmarynski on the move outside of the pocket. Defensively, PC has to deal with a lot of weapons like on the other side of the ball. Mount Ayr will look to run the ball and they will try to do it with a lot of different guys. They have five guys with at least 19 carries and multiple touchdowns. PC won’t be able to key in on one guy but they will have to identify the ball carrier and attack. Both teams are hoping to stay alive in the district race. A win keeps that team in it.
