When: Friday, Aug. 28 at 7 p.m.

One key player for Pella Christian
All-state defensive lineman Luke Mulder is back for Eagles and he shouldn’t have to wait long to make his presence felt in this one. Last year he led the team in tackles with 61 and added 15.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks for good measure. His pursuit and motor should be fun to watch this season. It will be curious to see how he is used offensively this year as his 6-foot-5, 220-pound frame could provide some mismatches.
Keys for Pella Christian
It’s hard to gauge where this Des Moines Christian team will be at the start of the season. They lose an awful lot of talent from last year’s senior class, but you would think they have the bodies to step up and take advantage of their opportunities. Back in PC’s two blowout wins over DMC in 2016 and 2017, the Eagles out-rushed the Lions 636 to -128. Yes, that is a negative number. Granted those were very good PC teams against not so good DMC teams but you figure the battle in the the ground game may decide where this game will go.
