PELLA — Notching a goal in both of the Central College women’s soccer team’s victories last week helped position freshman forward Grace Coates (Marion) as the American Rivers Conference women’s soccer offensive player of the week.
Coates started the week with a goal in a 5-0 Dutch (4-1-0) win against the University of Northwestern – St. Paul (Minn.) on Thursday. She followed it up with the only tally of the game against the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh Saturday in a 1-0 Dutch win. It was the Titans first loss and only goal allowed through five games.
Through five games, Coates leads the Dutch in goals (3) and shots attempted (20). Two of her three goals were game-winning efforts. She’s Central’s first women’s soccer offensive player of the week since Sept. 2, 2019.
Central hosts Monmouth College (Ill.) Wednesday at 4 p.m.
