LEON — Pella Christian grabbed their first win of the season in convincing fashion as they topped Central Decatur 42-6 in their district opener on Friday night.

It was a huge game for the Eagle’s sophomore quarterback as Isaac Kacmarynski had his best performance so far this season.

Kacmarynski would complete six of his nine passes for 275 yards and three touchdowns while running for 137 yards on 12 carries with two more touchdowns on the ground.

Big plays were the story of the night for Pella Christian.

It started midway through the first quarter when Kacmarynski would connect with Caden Van Dyke on a 76-yard TD to put the Eagles on the board first, 6-0.

Pella Christian would open it up with 29 points in the second quarter. Kacmarynski started it off with a five-yard rushing touchdown before hitting Drew Geetings on a 36-yard TD and then VanDyke on a 75-yard touchdown pass.

Cody Boender added one more PC score before the half on a 14-yard TD run. Boender would finish with 71 yards on 15 carries. He also led the defense with 6.5 tackles and one interception.

Kacmarynski scored one more time for good measure in the third quarter, a 92-yard QB keeper to put the Eagles up in front 42-0.

PC enjoyed 528 yards on total offense on the night. Luke Mulder had another sack, bringing his season total to four which is tied for third in Class 1A.

Pella Christian (1-2, 1-0) get a big test this week as they host I-35 (3-0, 1-0) on Friday at 7 p.m.
