By the numbers
Pella’s Grant Nelson (3.2) and Karl Miller (3) both rank in the top five in Class 3A in made threes per game. Centerville’s Brady Kauzlarich is fifth in 3A in free throws attempted per game at 5.9. As a team, Pella is third in 3A in scoring (70 PPG), fourth in point differential (17.2), third in assists (18.4 APG), first in three-pointers (10.8 3PG) and three-point percentage (39.1%). Centerville has played better as of late, going 5-5 in their last 10 after starting 0-7 while Pella is 9-1 in their last 10.
One key player for Pella
Josh Warner gives you a lot on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he can score inside and out and moves the ball well. But defensively will be where he will be key in this one. He is second on the team in steals at 1.3 per game and he is always willing to step in front of a moving train and take a charge. For a Centerville that likes to run and get to the rim, expect Warner to collect a couple of charges for the Dutch.
Keys for Pella
Just play your game. Centerville likes to run which favors Pella, who are one of the best shooting and scoring teams in the class. The one thing to keep an eye on is if the outside shots aren’t falling, can the Dutch make an adjustment. Sometimes they have fallen in love with the three which can get them into trouble if they aren’t falling. Expect big nights from Karl Miller and Grant Nelson as they look to start their postseason run to state on a high note.
