One key player for Pella Christian
Bennett Spronk brings power and versatility to the Eagle lineup while batting cleanup. He reached base three times and had a RBI against I-35 in the district semifinals and will hope to have that same approach against the Big Reds. His versatility gives PC a lot of options of where to deploy him and his bat is well suited for the big field Centerville plays on. Expect him to continue to be a threat at the plate and step up in whatever role he is given defensively.
Keys for Pella Christian
Get off to a quick start. Pella Christian waited until they had three outs left to get the bats rolling again against I-35. Scoring early would be huge for their confidence against an experienced Centerville team with a lot of postseason success that is playing on their home field. The Big Reds average 6.8 runs per game and are a good line-drive hitting squad coming off of an 11-3 win over Albia. PC will try to neutralize those bats and get enough offense to grab themselves a district title and a spot in Tuesday’s substate final.
