Recently I visited your town of Oskaloosa. Being from a small town in Illinois, I didn't expect what I found.
A dynamite town with great gift shops, dining, a plant nursery and a drug stroe in which I could have spent all day browsing.
Mahaska Drug was my first stop. It housed everything a person could possibly need or want. What fun I had.
In front of the store was a most beautiful and unusual wrought iron planter that I found and purchased from Stam Greenhouse. The nursery had plants I had not found in Illinois. A knowledgeable staff made purchases easy.
Hunter's Gift Shop provided me with a needed wedding gift and gifts for myself. 804 Decor was brimming with finds for home and garden.
New Sharon, just a few minutes from Oskaloosa, had a great store named Crow Row. I went a little crazy liking everything.
My friend and hostess, Jean Saxton and I had a lovely dinner at The Peppertree. Tasos' Steakhouse provided an excellent lunch and dinner. Book Vault! What a great idea. Books at an old bank. I bought several books about Iowa and other books that I have enjoyed reading.
Citizens of Oskaloosa, you are indeed lucky to live in a "Great Little Town."
I will be back to visit and buy!
