OSKALOOSA — The old Oskaloosa Post Office, on the intersection of Market Street and A Avenue, is getting some work done.

First opened in 1902, the building was sold in April to Ridge Development, LLC in Cedar Rapids. Brian Ridge said currently work is being done to get it watertight and stabilized. It's been sitting empty for quite some time, he said.

In 2013, it was reported that a previous owner intended to convert the old post office into housing, however, plans fell through.

Ridge said his team is working at restoring the building, focusing currently on getting the roof leaks stopped.

"[We're] working with the historic people and getting the outside of it back to a stable state to start with is what we're working on," he said. "We've got some plans, but we're not ready to really release what our plans for the building are yet."

Ridge said he is currently in the planning stages for the building and speculated he would be ready to release more information in the fall.
