KNOXVILLE — A woman has been charged after police said she stabbed a man Monday morning.

The Knoxville Police Department said they charged 56-year-old Toni Renee Baker with willful injury, a class C felony.

Officers were called to 110 W. Main St. in Knoxville at 10:30 a.m. Monday for the report of a man with a stab wound to his abdomen. The man, who was not identified in a police press release, was transported to Knoxville Hospitals and Clinics and later flown by medical ambulance to a Des Moines hospital.

Baker was located at 102 E. Robinson Street in Knoxville where she was taken to the police department for questioning. Police said she told them she stabbed the victim during a verbal argument.

Officers conducted a search warrant at Baker's residence to seize evidence, but police didn't say what they found.

Baker is currently being held in the Marion County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing. The Knoxville Police Department was assisted by Knoxville Rescue, Marion County Sheriff's office, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
