OSKALOOSA – Tickets are currently on sale for Mahaska Health Partnership’s Share the Love – An Evening for Hospice fundraising event from now until Feb. 1.
The fundraiser, now in it’s third year, is sponsored by the Mahaska Health’s Hospice Auxiliary. Last year, over $65,000 was raised at the Share the Love event. Mahaska Health Foundation Director Cathy Stahl said the funds raised benefit Mahaska Health’s Hospice Charity Care Program.
“Share The Love is a fundraiser sponsored by the Mahaska Hospice Auxiliary. They do the fundraising specifically for the Serenity House and for hospice services,” she said. “They raise money to allow us to continue our hospice mission, because no one is turned away from the Hospice Serenity House because they can’t pay.”
Stahl said in 2018 the Hospice Serenity House provided over $99,000 to ensure that patients had access to end of life care and all that comes with it. Mahaska Hospice Auxiliary President and Share the Love Co-Chair Amber Coffey explained the importance of the Hospice Charity Care Program for patients and their families.
“The Hospice Charity Care program is such a vital funding source for many of our patients and their families,” Coffey said. “Thanks to the generous support from the community for last year’s Share the Love fundraiser, we are able to make a sizable donation to help support this vital community resource. It is through the support of philanthropic community businesses and individuals that we are able to continue making a positive impact.”
In a news release, Share the Love Co-Chair Amanda Doud said that all supporters of hospice are invited to attend the fundraising event. Those that attend the fundraiser can expect dinner, entertainment, silent auction prizes, plus more.
“The evening will feature a delicious dinner catered by Thelma’s Cater 2 you,” Doud said. “Back by popular demand, the entertainment will be Felix and Fingers, the Dueling Pianos from the first Share the Love fundraiser.”
Currently, the Share the Love committee is in the process of finalizing all sponsorships and programs. For any business or individual looking to make a donation to the silent auction, it’s not too late. The deadline to donate an auction item of $25 or above is January 26.
Share the Love is set for Saturday, Feb. 8 at 5 p.m. Tickets for Share the Love are priced at $50 per individual and $500 for a table of eight.
