MAHASKA COUNTY — Many Southern Iowa Fair exhibitors want to have their hair braided before a livestock show but many do not have someone that can braid their hair for them.

That is where Mandi Rist of Mandi’s Braids comes in.

Rist has set up a stand just north of the Southern Iowa Fairgrounds office and has established a small business doing braids, bracelets and face painting.

Rist will use the business as an FFA SAE (Supervised Agriculture Experience) project for 2020.

“You can do an entrepreneurial project as part of the SAE,” said Rist. “So I decided to open this business during the fair.” “I have about 22 different braids to choose from in a binder and I can do custom braids if they want something else and I think I can do it.

Rist will be doing the face painting on Saturday.
