OSKALOOSA — Oskaloosa Police Chief Jake McGee said officer Janae Pritchett was terminated from the police force Friday. McGee declined to comment further as it is a personnel issue.
Pritchett was charged on May 3 with harassment, domestic abuse assault and display or use of weapon.
According to the complaint, during an argument, Pritchett kicked her girlfriend in the chest and cut her neck with a small pocket knife.
Pritchett threatened to kill the woman, according to the affidavit, and Pritchett went to a closet where an unloaded shotgun was kept. The girlfriend said she feared for her life.
According to the complaint, the girlfriend tried to stop Pritchett from leaving the residence because Pritchett had been drinking. Pritchett then left the residence with a friend, which was when the girlfriend reported the incident.
Pritchett stated she did not cut the girlfriend and didn't pull a knife and said the dispute was physical from both parties, according to the affidavit. Pritchett also said she had an injury to her back from being pushed down and wanted the other woman also arrested.
Prior to her termination, Pritchett was the sole female police officer in Oskaloosa. The William Penn University graduate was hired in 2016.
