The Pella Public Library will continue its Culture Night Series with “Culture Night: Uzbekistan” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 23.
Saidamir Egamberdiyev (pronounced: SA-Y-DA-MEER ÉGAM-BÉR-DEE-YEV), an exchange student living in Knoxville, will share stories and traditions of Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan has the distinction of being one of only two doubly landlocked countries in the world; it is landlocked, and all the countries surrounding it are as well. It is home to five different UNESCO World Heritage sites, and its major exports are cotton and gold (from the world’s largest open-pit gold mine).
“Culture Night: Uzbekistan” will take place in the Pella Public Library meeting room located at 603 Main St. in Pella. This program is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome.
Call the library at 641-628-4268 for questions about this or other upcoming library events.
