Osky PD investigating shooting victim

OSKALOOSA — A juvenile victim is recovering after suffering a gunshot wound, according to a press release from the Oskaloosa Police Department.

On Oct. 15 at approximately 8:34 p.m., members of the Oskaloosa Police Department and Mahaska County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the 1900 block of 17th Ave. E. in Oskaloosa for a possible shooting victim.

Once they arrived, officers discovered a juvenile victim who had suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and was later released to a family member, according to the press release.

Initial investigation revealed a recently fired handgun, which was recovered at the scene. According to the press release, the investigation is ongoing, and there is no danger to the public at this time. Any future charges will be announced at a later date, pending the final outcome of this investigation.

The Mahaska County 911 Center also assisted.
