OSKALOOSA — The body of an adult female found in the South Skunk River near Glendale Access has been identified as Ashley Shafer of Oskaloosa.
According to a news release, at around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6, the body of an adult female was located by members of the Mahaska County Sheriff's Office.
Following an autopsy, the female was identified as 24-year-old Ashley Shafer, of Oskaloosa. According to the news release, while an autopsy was completed, a determination of the manner and cause of death are pending further investigation. Shafer was reported missing to the Oskaloosa Police Department on Aug. 5.
The Department of Criminal Investigation, the Oskaloosa Police Department and the Mahaska County Sheriff's Office continue their investigation.
