OSKALOOSA — Oskaloosa Chamber and Main Street have laid out a Christmas challenge.
The holidays are fast approaching and visitors will be traveling to town to shop, eat and stay. Area businesses and organizations can help make a visual impact by decorating their storefronts for the holidays.
Oskaloosa Area Chamber and Development Group Director, Ann Frost, encourages participants to participate.
“Whether it’s putting up lights on your building, or placing a Christmas tree,” she said, “or decorations in your window, every touch of holiday spirit counts!”
Until 2018, the holiday Window Decorating Contest was limited to downtown, but Chamber and Main Street staff would like to see the entire community participate.
“When people come into town, we want them to be able to feel the Christmas Spirit!” said Main Street Director, Emily Brown. “The greater the participation is from our local businesses and organizations, the stronger that feeling can be.”
The contest is open to area businesses and organizations. There is no cost to enter. There will be an Osky Cash prize to the winner. Displays must be up no later than Dec. 2 and should stay up through the holiday season. Judging will take place the week of Dec. 2. Contest winners will be announced during Merry Little Downtown Christmas, 5 p.m., Dec. 14 at the bandstand.
To enter, submit your name and a photo of your storefront or business to the Oskaloosa Chamber office at 222 First Ave. E. or by email to OskyCofC@oacdg.org. Contact the chamber at 641-672-2591 or visit the Chamber office with questions.
