The Marion County Conservation Department will host a Building Better Birders and Citizen Scientists Workshop beginning at 7 a.m. Wednesday, June 7 at the Cordova Park office building, located at 1378 Hwy G28, Otley.

This program is geared for families and is a come and go event.

For the past two years, Kelly McKay, along with Clinton County Conservation and Nahant Marsh Education Center, have been presenting a program designed to create a citizenry with better bird identification skills and to promote participants getting involved with local citizen science projects.

The schedule is as follows:

— 7-10 a.m.: Bird hike in Karr Trail.

— 10-10:30 a.m.: Break/visit/questions

— 10:30 a.m. to noon: Upland Forest Birds/powerpoint presentation in the Cordova office/multi-purpose room.

— Noon to 1 p.m.: Lunch/visit/questions (lunch will be provided)
