URBANDALE — On Sept. 29, the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont High School marching band placed third in class 2A competition at the Urbandale Marching Invitational with a score of 67.5.
The EBF High School band outscored eight other bands including IKM Manning, PCM, Ogden, Perry, Knoxville, Clarke, Fort Dodge, and Marshalltown.
The Drum Majors are Eric Schutt, Emma Mock, and Lizzy VanUtrecht. The soloists for this year’s show are Tara Diephuis, Eric Schutt, Natalie Nemitz, Addisyn McCrea, Lucas VanBlaricon, Makayla Rodwell, Cameron Kolthoff, Zach Edgren, Shanna Fellows, Andrea Burger, and Emily Glosser. The band is directed by Joe Overton, Dezirae Fairchild, and Color Guard instructor Paige VerSteegh.
This Saturday the band travels to West Des Moines to compete at the Valleyfest Marching Invitational and the “Showdown” Marching Contest. The EBF High School marching band will compete at 8:30 a.m. in class 2A competition and then at 5:00 P.M. in the “Showdown” of bands.
The band will be competing for places as well as caption awards including: drumline, hornline, color guard, marching, soloist, and drum major.
The “Showdown” is one of Iowa’s top marching band contests and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont has won the class C title the last 22 years in a row.
