OSKALOOSA — The Oskaloosa City Council held a brief meeting Nov. 1 and unanimously voted to approve pay application number 17 to Graphite Construction Group for the Early Childhood Education and Recreation Center in the amount of $583,336.75.

Council members noted various issues that have arisen with construction such as sloppy paint jobs, but ultimately approved the application.

“I am reluctantly in favor of approving this payment, but really it comes down to the contractor and their subs are continuing to work to get this project completed,” board member Bob Drost said.

Mayor David Krutzfeldt announced several vacancies: one vacancy for the Airport Commission, two for the Board of Adjustment, two for the Building Code Board of Appeals, four for the Historic Preservation Commission, one for the Library Board, four for the Mahaska County Solid Waste Commission and two for the Municipal Housing Agency.
