OSKALOOSA — This Saturday it’s time to “head ‘em up and move ‘em on down to Ms. Hardtack’s Saloon where the cowboys are rowdy, the girls are feisty, and nobody knows your name. That’s where you’ll find the Oskaloosa Community Theater’s cowboy murder mystery, ‘A Fistful of Beans.’”
Henrietta Hardtack (Rachel Singley) says if you mind your Ps and Qs, maybe you can catch the killer before poor ol’ Sheriff Hap (Brent Nelson). Leave your city slicker boots at home and get you some tasty vittles down yonder at the Wood Iron Grille where good ol’ Bub (Allison McGuire) gets the pianah’ hoppin’.
The fun kicks off at 6:30 p.m. and runs until 9 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Wood Iron Grille for $40 per person, which includes the show, appetizers, dinner and dessert.
There will be an old west saloon atmosphere, so guests are encouraged to dress up in western outfits to add to the fun.
This special dinner event is sponsored by Doty’s in partnership with The George Daily Auditorium, The Oskaloosa Art Center and Nelson Pioneer Farm.
George Daily Auditorium’s Education Director Andy McGuire said it’s all part of the Oskaloosa Community Theater’s ‘2019 Month of October’ series of events, including the ‘Halloween Treasure Hunt’ at 7 p.m. on Oct. 17 at Nelson Pioneer Park and ‘Trick or Treat Parade Tricks’ beginning at 4 p.m. during the parade at the square on Oct. 31.
“This will be the fourth year the theater has hosted this series of October events that celebrate and promote our Oskaloosa community during the prime of the fall season,” McGuire said.
