Who: Knoxville (26-7) vs Centerville (13-18)
What: Class 3A - Region 4 - Semifinal
When: Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m.
Knoxville holds a 5-2 advantage in the series since 2014 including 3-0 sweeps in each of the past four meetings. The Panthers defeated the Redettes 3-0 (25-11, 25-16, 25-18) last week.
One key player for Knoxville
It could be a busy night for Maggie Wilkins. Knoxville’s libero has been a dig machine this season and she will face one of the better hitters in the SCC in Centerville’s Kyla Moore. In the first meeting, Moore accounted for 12 of Centerville’s 18 kills while Wilkins recorded 23 digs. The back and forth between these two will be something to watch for. Also look out for Wilkins serving, she was a perfect 13-of-13 with three aces in that match.
Keys for Knoxville
Try to limit Moore and force others to step up. Knoxville’s defense will be focused on throwing bodies at her up front but their backline will need to be sharp as well. The Panthers had four girls with at six kills in the first meeting. That kind of balance would be huge offensively while trying to limit errors and staying aggressive with their serve like they did against Clarke. Knoxville has dominated SCC foes in recent years, they will try to get by one more to punch their ticket to the regional final.
