Racecar drivers wanted for Life in the Fast Lane event

PELLA — Champion Race Promotions and the Pella Area Community & Economic Alliance are seeking drivers and car owners of all ages to display their racecars at Thursdays in Pella: Life in the Fast Lane.

The event, which will be held July 23 from 6-9 p.m., is sponsored by Pella Motors and is dedicated to highlighting racing in nearby communities and its economic impact on Pella.

The event is an opportunity for drivers to meet their fans and create photo opportunities for them; bring hero cards for autographs and trinkets for kids; set up a tent/table to have marketing materials for sponsors; and to sell race apparel. If drivers choose to sell race apparel, they are asked to donate 5% of their sales to the Christian Opportunity Center of Pella. Two downtown streets will be blocked off for race cars and haulers.

Space will also be available for businesses who sponsor racing or are involved in the sport, race tracks, race part manufacturers, safety crews and more. Sponsors can bring photos of their business advertised on racecars, promotional handouts, product/service displays (no sales), educational information and giveaway trinkets.

The deadline for drivers to confirm their space is Monday, July 13. The deadline for sponsors is Wednesday, July 15. To reserve a space or for more information, contact Lori Cutter with Champion Race Promotions at 503-349-2778 or Tyler Weyers with Pella Hosting and Website Solutions at 641-891-2862.

The event will also feature a performance by country music recording artist and PHS graduate Adam Whitehead from 6-7 p.m. The National Sprint Care Hall of Fame will present the history of sprint car racing and other racing topics from 7-8 p.m. The evening will end with a performance by the Pella City Band at 8 p.m.
